Celebrate Pride Week by learning about New York's gay history. Join us for an entirely new concept: an exploration of homoerotic art in the Metropolitan Museum. On this 2-hour museum walking tour, we will: - Discover some of the Met’s queer treasures, from ancient Greek nudes (and erotic vase-painting, on which Professor Lear is a world expert) to homoerotic works from the Renaissance and beyond. - Venture into the 20th century with a panoply of modern works, some by lgbtq+ artists, some portraying lgbtq+ people and some expressing same-sex desire. - Focus on famous works - from Michelangelo’s Cupid to Picasso’s portrait of Gertrude Stein. - And explore lesser-known artists and works that are often ignored.
